1.  Academic license are available to educational institutions and its allow for use fully function version of the software for non-commersial purpose only. Its including education and research.

Benefits of Linux
  1.   It is low cost because we do not need to spend time and money to obtain licenses  sinces Linux and its software come with the GNU General Public License. While Microsoft product are only allowed to be installed on a single computer, whereas a Linux distribution can be installed on any number of computers, without paying.
  2.   It also stability because Linux does not need to be rebooted periodically to maintain performance level. The memory leaks does not freez up or slow down.
  3.   The performance of Linux provides persistent the high performance on workstation and network. 
  4.   Flexibility of Linux can used for the high performance to a server application, desktop application, and embedded system. It fleksibel because it can save disk space by only installing the components need for particular use.
  5.   Linux is the most secure operating systems because it prevent access by unwanted visitor or viruses. The users of Linux operating system have to option to select and safely download software, free of charge, from online repositories that containing the thousands of high quality packages. If there were a widespread Linux virus released today, there would be hundreds of patches released tomorrow.

TYPES OF OPEN SOURCE LICENSES



 1)Mozilla Public License


-The Mozilla Public License Mozilla Public License (MPL) is a free, open source, and detailed software developed and maintained by the Mozilla Foundation.
- It supports software that is open source, but may be linked with closed-source modules or extensions. 

2)Apache License

-The Apache License is essentially a BSD-style license (including the advertisement clause)
plus some additional conditions.
-Apache License may actually give incentives for a licensee to have a greater commitment to the open source development model than would be required by an ordinary BSD-style license

3) General Public License 


 -It is the single most widely used free-software license.
 -These extra requirements actually make the GPL more restrictive than any of the other commonly used licenses.

4)MIT or X Consortium License

 -The MIT License is a free software license originating at the the    Massachusetss Institute of Technology  (MIT).
-The loosest kind of free-software license is one that grants unrestricted rights to copy, use, modify, and redistribute modified 

5)BSD Classic License

-The next least restrictive kind of license grants unrestricted rights to copy, use, modify, and redistribute modified.
-The original BSD license is the best-known license of this kind. 

6)Artistic License

-The next most restrictive kind of license grants unrestricted rights to copy, use, and locally modify. 
-It allows redistribution of modified binaries.
